One thing that has helped me over the years is finding people who are farther along in their career who can give me constructive feedback. If you want to get better at your craft you need to be willing to have your work torn down or pruned back to be made better.
On my short film, Worth The Wait, my writer/director friends John Sinclair and Cory Edwards both gave me sound feedback that GREATLY improved this project. And it wasn’t necessarily pages of notes. Sometimes one quick sentence can bring tremendous clarity and help take a project to another level. Be open to that.
Find people whose work you respect and get their feedback. You will be glad you did.
